Crown Stump
Part of the April 25′ Bushland Collection, Crown Stump focuses on a large, weathered tree stump overtaken by layers of fern growth. Bright green fronds extend outward from the decaying wood, catching direct light against the deeper tones of the forest behind. Intermixed with the live foliage are curled brown remnants of older growth, adding contrast in both form and color. The stump itself is deeply ridged and fractured, its vertical grain highlighted by the sharp directional lighting. The composition is tight and upright, drawing attention to natural succession and forest regeneration in process.
